(The Mummy, 2017), is the story of two American soldiers, including Nick Morton (Tom Cruise), who accidentally discover the tomb of Egyptian princess Ahmanet (Sofía Boutella) in Iraq, and with the help of an archaeologist Jenny Halsey, (Annabelle Wallis), they will transport the find to London. But what they don't know is that they will arouse a curse.

In this occasion the script of (The mummy, 2017), has relation with the films (The mummy, 1999) and (The mummy returns, 2001), both written and directed by Stephen Sommers. Although this new installment has as scriptwriters Jon Spaihts and Christopher McQuarrie, the resemblance of Ahmanet's power to control the dead, the appearance of the "book of the living", and absorb the lives of the living with the "kiss of death", it isn't just a coincidence.

Spaihts and McQuarrie recreated similar circumstances to previous films, but instead of an Imhotep, (Arnold Vosloo), chasing after a girl to revive her great love Anck-Su-Namun, (Patricia Velásquez), we have before us the princess Ahmanet, behind of his human sacrifice, Nick Morton, trying to stab him with a dagger to get the power and giving to the god Set a physical form.

In one of the scenes Halsey's archeology stumbles to a bookcase, and finds the well-known "book of the living", which is made of gold and has a special lock. Then, when Morton look for a cure for his curse, in an open ending, it could be the famous book, a key piece.

The audiovisual was directed by Alex Kurtzman and you can appreciate the contrast of cold and warm colors, as London and the desert of Iraq. There are also chase scenes with dolly, and the predominance of close-ups for convey the feelings of the characters to the public.
Other tools that Kurtzman handled were the shots "point of view" to make the spectators feel suspense, and superimpressionists to make known the thoughts of the soldier Morton, who were controlled by the egyptian princess.
This project was produced with a budget of $ 125,000,000 and has so far raised $ 385,000,000. So hopefully in the next installment, the screenwriters will surprise us more and show more creativity.
